When Like A Shot Entertainment approached us to produce an episode for their documentary series Mysteries of the Abandoned, we knew the best approach was to provide a skilled local crew and top-tier equipment to shoot the entire episode. The footage was then delivered for editing in the UK.
At Fixer Brazil, our expertise lies in unscripted content and documentaries. For this project, we handled character research and all the necessary pre-production for the episode about the abandoned prison on Ilha Anchieta.
On the day of the shoot, our producer, Renato Falzoni, was prepared with comprehensive knowledge of the prison’s history, a detailed bio of the main character, and a logistics plan to ensure a seamless shoot. Director of Photography Felipe Meireles had conducted extensive iconographic research to capture the perfect shots and had the script internalized. Drone Pilot Tomaz Cavalieri had meticulously planned every flight, ensuring stunning aerial footage crucial to telling the prison’s story.
With just one day to film, we captured the testimony of Celio de Almeida, the son of a police officer who lived on the island during its time as a high-security prison. Our two-camera setup, planned in advance, allowed us to quickly switch between gimbal and tripod shots, maximizing efficiency. Clear and effective communication between our three crew members was key to executing the day’s work flawlessly. Meticulous planning and organization ensured a successful shoot.
With all the scenes and compelling stories securely stored, Fixer Brazil delivered outstanding results for Like A Shot Entertainment—and we can do the same for your project.

Rio de Janeiro is one of the most known cities in the world. Filmmakers come from all over the world after its famous beaches like Ipanema and Copacabana.
They also come after its many unspoiled beaches, the Favelas and it’s local communities, the Carnival, Tijuca National Park, the Funk Carioca, and much more. But what really makes Rio de Janeiro special it is the unique culture, which is unlike any other in the world.
Filming in Rio has its challenges. To film in the National Parks it is important to get permits from the park managers – each park is run by a different government agency – so the bureaucracy can seem overwhelming. But Fixer Brazil can help you over the many red tapes. We have a local team of locations managers and producers that will get things done.
Fixer Brazil has helped many production companies to shoot in Rio de Janeiro, working with a local crew and providing the best logistic to film. From the urban Favelas to remote underwater shoots. We have local expertise to work with safety at the favelas and specialized people who know each corner of the “wonderful city”.
Fixer Brazil worked with Lonelyleap for the Google My Business films “Favela Brass” and “Hand Talk” . The five Americans from Lonelyleap joined FixerBrazil’s team that included the fixer, location manager, art director, drivers, first camera assistant, catering, for six days of production.
Fixer Brazil worked with Eyeforce and produced this video for KLM shoot in Rio.
When coming to Brazil to film we recommend that you bring all your gear as accompanied baggage with you in the same flight and declare them to the Customs (Receita Federal) as temporary admission of equipment or you can also use the ATA Carnet.
Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo are the entrances for most of the foreign crews that come to film in Brazil. We also work with customs brokers in Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport, in Rio, and GRU Airport in São Paulo. Depending on the amount of equipment imported, we will partner companies to get all the gear on time to film.

Renato Falzoni from 10e20 Filmes is an excellent fixer with in depth knowledge of the country. He is organised, determined and has a great ‘can do’ attitude. He was able to open doors that I thought were double padlocked, and quickly. I can highly recommend him. Paul Reddish, Director

“Lonelyleap has successfully worked with Tomaz Cavalieri of 10e20 Filmes on two different documentary commercials to date. In both instances, Tomaz calmly guided our team through customs + permitting procedures and into production, ensuring best practices were upheld and proper safety precautions considered. Tomaz is level-headed, focused, and able to adapt to changing environs. Beyond his capacity to effectively produce, he is also generous in nature and thus a pleasure to work alongside. He consistently goes above and beyond; I look forward to future projects together.” Cassandra Evanisko, Producer

“My company Image Impact has just completed a complicated shoot in Brazil – in just 9 days our small crew travelled from Sao Paulo to Rio Grande in the south, and Belem in the north, filming the science and natural history of venomous snakes. Without the help of Tomaz and his team it would have been impossible to make the film – as well as arranging our entry to the country and dealing with customs, his help was also invaluable with last-minute logistics and making arrangements with local experts. I’d recommend his services to any production company shooting in Brazil.”
